LMLIM Week 4 | Too old to cornroll?

I'm in the final week of this "project" and today's tip is DIY.  Magazines are really the best place to find great hair tips and this one I sooooo liked.  I don't think I've worn a braid or cornroll in my hair since maybe my 20s.  But it really was a cute look on the model in the Essence magazine so I gave it a try.  Especially since my hair has grown out I am always looking for an updo to help keep cool in Bako.

So here's how it turned out.

I did alter it a little because well I didn't have enough hair on the side for a braid.  Maybe I'll try that when its a bit cooler here and add a little extra on the side. :)  I also did an inverted braid because it was easier since I started at the middle of the part.  Definitely will be including this in my hair style recipes.

LMLIM Week 2 | DIY Vase

It's DIY day and I went with a project that Talia could help me with.  I loved this vase when I saw it in the pages of All You Magazine and thought,
I had to buy the vase.
seems simple enough....yeah well er.  LOL  No actually it is pretty simple to do but I of course was in a tad bit of a rush so I think I'm going to retry it this weekend.  All in all the steps are easy and if the kids are looking for a cute gift to give Grandma or some other special mother this is a great one.  Just add some fresh flowers and viola.  It's pretty cost effective too.  One thing I did do was save on the Mod Podge at Walmart.  It rang up over $5.00 but when I showed the cashier the price from the article I had she changed it to $2.00 #SingleMamaDollas Lovs it!  The price for the tissue paper was a bit more than they listed but hey I live in Cali.  So my cost was around $6.50.

This is a great project to do with your daughter and let your creativity flow.  The possibilities of color combination, placement and adding bling are endless.  One tip from me is:  Watch your brush strokes.  It might be better to use a sponge brush as suggested but I couldn't find one.  The Mod Podge goes on pretty thick and needs to be spread quickly.

I love this Chevron print...it's so NOW!

LMLIM Week 1 | DIY Mask

A homemade mask for hydration is a must in my book.  This one also has an exfoliate in it as well.

After I mixed everything together I followed the instructions and left on for 10 minutes.  Rinsing off with warm water I touched my face and it felt dry.  It wasn't impressed BUT I then took my shower and the facial steam was just what I needed.  I didn't even put on moisturizer.  One thing it didn't say is how often you could use this treatment.  I could use it daily but don't think that would be a good thing.  Even though the mask is advertised as a winter skin saver the sun can be just as damaging so this will be a year round treatment for me.

The greatest thing about this mask was that it costs me less than $2.00.  The only ingredient I didn't have was avocado and you only use a minimum amount of honey and yogurt.  Give it a try Momager.

Whatchu Doin Wednesdays | Livin My Life in Magazines

I have already professed to everyone how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE magazines.  Well as I was going through and getting some of the clutter out of the house I had what Mama Oprah calls an Ahh Moment.  I'm always tearing out pieces of magazines and keeping them for future reference and future reference and future reference.  Yeah you get it.  So it's time to either start using some of the advice I'm saving or throw it away.

So here's the skinny.  Over the next month each week I'll be picking a tip from each of the following categories to try out:

  • Beauty
  • Food
  • Lifestyle (Fitness, entertaining, etc.)
  • Fashion
  • DIY (I'm a little nervous about this one)

Each day I'll share my experiences right here for the world to see and maybe get a chuckle out of.  It
shall be interesting.  Be sure you follow along, you might get inspired yourself.  Okay I'm off to scour through my clippings...hopefully I'll be able to tackle my clutter at the same time.

Cheers,

The Curvy Momager
