Whatchu Doin Wednesday | Inspire Yourself Cont'd

Done something great, really great or just plain ole fabulous lately?  Heck maybe you organized your closet and donated last years too big jeans to charity.  It's time to do some reflecting by reliving that moment.  Think of these questions and jot down the answers:

How did I achieve that success?
What skills did it take to reach that goal?
When I accomplished the goal it made me feel ___________?

Get to know the strengths you have in your toolbox.  You never know when you might need to pull it out again and SHINE!

Thankful Thursday | Humankindness

Photo Cred www.prettyorganized.com
Yep my job is pretty cool.  Both of them :)  My day job is a Volunteer Manager at a large hospital organization.  Every day I work with people that want to help others and do so in a very big way.  The really cool part is the organization has a huge mission of humankindness and has adopted this theme company wide and encourages Random Acts of Kindness for not only the customers we serve but all of the staff and their families.  As a matter of fact there is an initiative to practice RAK for all employees and they have provided us with a checklist of various task we can do.  I'll of course share with you some of the events that occur that week but if you think or practice RAK let me know what you've done to make someone's day a little better, brighter and blessed.  Humankindness goes a long way even the smallest act of kindness generates the largest return....a smile!

Stay blessed,

Whatchu Doin Wednesday | I'm listening too....

Man I have really been under the weather this week....wait take that back.  I really have had an eye infection because of a bad eyelash job that has made me seriously ill.  So ill I haven't even been on the internet, I was wondering if someone needed to check my pulse.  This is the second time this has happened and I vow I'll never do it again.  Well, I will wear lashes again but only the strips I attempt to put on myself.  It ain't worth it man...kaute or not!

So I haven't been up to much but I have really been listening to this song on repeat and hope you enjoy it to.  It just puts you in a really good mood.  What have you been listening too?  I need to update my playlist it's getting a little stale except for that Yonce CD.  It's also in heavy rotation...don't judge me!  Put one of your favs in the comment section so I can freshen up my iTunes library and don't forget to add this one by Pharrell if you haven't already.  Ciao.

Fo Shizzle Fridays | At Home Mani

Ladies!  I have never been a fan of painting my own nails.  One hand comes out perfect and the other  looks like I was driving, texting and trying to paint them at the same time.  No bueno!  If you are an at home mani girl however here are few HAUTE tips for you from celeb manicurist Jin Soon Choi.

Is that Bey and Jay on her nails?
Lacquer Lesson 1 | To get a little extra time out of your mani paint the tips of the nail with another coat of clear.  Texting, typing and other tasks put more wear and tear on that area and the extra coat helps with less chipping.

Lacquer Lesson 2 | Need to get dry quickly?  Try the cool shot button on your hair dryer and ditch the " quick dry" sprays.

Lacquer Lesson 3 | Fan of using a gel nail system at home?  Only do it once a month.  Gel makes the nails brittle and causes drying.

Happy painting!

Whatchu Doin Wednesday | Getting My Finances Together

I first met Patrice Washington (virtually) a little over a year ago when she appeared on the radio show that I co-hosted, Cocktails and Conversation.  She joined us to chat about money matters for women and got me to really think about some financial mistakes I'd made and "covered" up with some pretty dumb (yeah dumb) excuses.  The really cool thing was she didn't make me feel dumb at all because the advice she gave was extremely practical and is explained in greater detail her book Real Money Answers for Every Woman.  [Click the link to purchase your copy and check out a sample of Chapter 1]

Let's face it nobody really wants to read a financial book especially if you are being careless with your money.  [Insert guilty face] Patrices' straight no chaser advice with a splash of comedy makes you want to delve into each chapter so you too can learn to Win at the Money Game.  Don't we all want to win at that game?  And ladies it's so doable on our own.  Do you know that females are leaders when it comes to managing successful home based businesses?  Many becoming millionaires!  I think it's time we all get this money thing together and Real Money Answers is the perfect start for reaching your financial goals.

Even if you weren't taught about money as a child, as many of us aren't it's never to late.  I say that especially to my single moms like me that are trying to figure out how everything is going to get done.  As Patrice says, "everything can be budgeted for".  This part really struck me because I'm always making excuses for why I don't have enough for this or for that because this or that emergency came up when I knew all along it was going to happen.  That small piece of advice I gained from reading the book has helped me refocus and think how I can make changes for future financial success.  So thanks to Patrice I made a major decision to downsize for a little while so that life's little (well-known) emergencies can be handled and I can still pay the bills!

Get this book today and get ready for Patrice's wisdom and wit helping you on your way to financial success.

If you are up driving around battling the weather tune into The Steve Harvey Morning Show and listen to Steve interview Patrice about her book at 8:30 am EST today.  I've got my hot chocolate ready to sip cause I'm gon learn today!

Getting my money swag on,

Moment In Life Monday | Yep we are back at in 2014

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Holiday.  The kids and I really had a great time together with family and friends and not much work got done but we sure did play alot.  Great memories that we'll have to share.

Now that it's 2014 I have a bit of tough work to do.  We all have goals but I've set up a few lofty ones that I want to accomplish rather quickly.  I can however check one off of my list that I'm very excited about.  It's nothing major but it feels good to place a check by it.  My next task is going to be a little more challenging however.  It's the task of getting organized.  I started the year by organizing both of my closets by color which has really helped when it comes to last minute clothing selection in the morning but I really have got to get it together with all of my papers, magazines and crap cluttering my bedroom, kitchen table and any other open space in the house.  I have enlisted the help of a new book and will be sharing my results with you as I go along.  It's going to be a journey and I know it will take some work but follow me on my organization walk and maybe you'll learn a thing or two as well.

Here's to getting it all together in 2014!  There are so many ideas and accomplishments swirling around in my head that I need to prioritize.  Does this happen to anyone else?  I'm sure it just can't be me.  Oh well off to finish reading Real Money Answers by Patrice Washington.  Look for my review this Wednesday and find out how you can grab a copy of the first Chapter of the book. Patrice's practical wit and wisdom are going to help in my organization journey too.

Keeping it real!
