LMLIM Week 4 | Perfect Match

Not only did I see this in Essence magazine but I'd passed by Sephora a few times and noticed they had a new foundation color matching technique called Color IQ.  I never imagined the experience would have been so well, technical.  Momagers you have got to try this.  My make up artist Mario was so helpful and really took his time to get my perfect match.  He even explained the process step by step and all of the products he used on me.  Yes that's pretty standard but I'm sorry he was just awesome.  Okay so here is the process.

They take the wand pictured below and scan three places:  your neck, chin and check. Once that is
done they place the wand information into an iPad that is docked at the make up counter. Three suggestions are given to the make up artist after it has reviewed over 1500 formulas offered at Sephora.  Mario brought over three foundations and placed each on my jaw to confirm a match.  After the match was confirmed he moisturized my face and added primer then the foundation and this is the before and after.

I really did like the match, I actually think it's perfect for all over coverage.  Now one thing I wasn't so crazy about was that it was a bit dry looking after some time so I'm going to go back for a suggestion for help with that.  If you are not ready to purchase they will give you samples to try.  Another amazing part is that this process is absolutely free.  Enjoy and go find your perfect match!

LMLIM Week 4 | Too old to cornroll?

I'm in the final week of this "project" and today's tip is DIY.  Magazines are really the best place to find great hair tips and this one I sooooo liked.  I don't think I've worn a braid or cornroll in my hair since maybe my 20s.  But it really was a cute look on the model in the Essence magazine so I gave it a try.  Especially since my hair has grown out I am always looking for an updo to help keep cool in Bako.

So here's how it turned out.

I did alter it a little because well I didn't have enough hair on the side for a braid.  Maybe I'll try that when its a bit cooler here and add a little extra on the side. :)  I also did an inverted braid because it was easier since I started at the middle of the part.  Definitely will be including this in my hair style recipes.

LMLIM Week 3 | That swanky side part

Yes I'm still working on finding that low maintenance hairstyle.  So why not try this tip I found in Essence for the deep side part?  Looks good on the model right?  Whelp either my head is way too big or my hair just won't simply cooperate because I didn't like it.  I'm not one to wear my hear totally flat anyway...bobble head syndrome....I also had to brush and brush my hair for this style and that causes it to get really oily.  Trust me that is not a good look.  So I fluffed it up a little but kept the side part and I kinda like the end result even if it doesn't look as polished as the tip.  Sometimes you just have to improvise.  :)  Do you side part?  Give it a try and send me some pics of how it turned out.

A special weekend edition of Livin It Up With The Curvy Momager

You all know I rarely post anything on the weekends BUT we aren't traveling so I have a little spare time.  I have news that I'm pretty excited about too!  Last year one of my Vision Board goals was to be in a magazine.  I didn't know what for, how it was going to happen or even if anyone would be interested but it was my goal.  In November I was fortunate enough to link up with someone from All You Magazine and VIOLA that accomplishment has been checked off.  It took a while for me to appear but this month (the May Issue) you will find me on page 111.  [Insert Saturday Night Fever dance emoji here]

Now before you go calling my momma and congratulating her it is just a small feature...featurette...hell they mentioned me but I'm elated.  When you put out those little nuggets in the universe they really do come back.  One pretty major piece too is, as I was reading Essence magazine last night I just happen to see an advertisement for All You Magazine.  Which means more people are finding out about the publication.  HOLLA!!!  Another nice piece is that it falls right into my format of Single Mama Dollas that you see on my blog occasionally AND my new segment Living My Life In Magazines SCORE!!!

All You Magazine is sold at Walmart and Vons but you might find it in more areas.  Check their website!

Thanks All You, I hope we can work together again.  I really have a lot more people to reach with my message ya know!?!?!?

Lovin Life,

Moment In Life Monday | Sister Save A Lot

I had almost forgotten that my good girlfriend Antoinette Peterson was in this months’ Essence Magazine, yes with Gabi on the cover.  I was flipping through the pages and BAM her bright smiley face met me on page 108 in the Work & Wealth section.  Antoinette and I go waaaay back to when Erika and I started doing guest appearances on Cocktails and Conversation radio.  She was one of our first and most memorable guests.  At the time she had already stared on a coupon reality TV show, Extreme Couponing  and was developing her Sister Save A Lot brand.  At 32, she’s had a heck of a year!  I think this is her 3rd magazine appearance of 2014 and at least  2 national TV spots featured her.  Hello Dr. Oz!!!  The most wonderful thing about her brand is that she not only is using it to teach families about saving at the grocery store but about living a more economical lifestyle or what I like to call Ballin’ on a Budget!  Although she and I are pretty tight I promise you I’ve got lots

to learn from her and thankfully she is a wealth of information.   Her advice on Holiday shopping really has me re-thinking my strategy of buying that $400 PlayStation 4 for The Phenom this year.  Besides only having about $200 on it I know there has to be some sort of deal out there.  Oh Antoinette……help a sista out!

Congratulations girl and thanks for sharing your Moment in Life with everyone!

Back to writing out my Christmas list,
